RSC Men's and Women's Cross Country Programs honored for Academic Excellence by USTFCCCA

New Orleans, LA— Russell Sage College's men's and women's cross country teams have both been saluted with the announcement of the All-Academic Teams for the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

            Pomona-Pitzer was named the Men's Scholar Team of the Year for the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country season. The Sagehens, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.690, won the team title at the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the second time in the past three years that Pomona-Pitzer has been named Men's Scholar Team of the Year in cross country.

            Overall, there were 137 men's programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season. No program had a better cumulative GPA than Stevens Institute of Technology at 3.798.

            Johns Hopkins was named the Women's Scholar Team of the Year for the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country season. The Blue Jays, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.630, won the team title at the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. This is the seventh time in program history that Johns Hopkins has been named Women's Scholar Team of the Year, all of which have come in the past 10 years. The Blue Jays tied the most honors earned in a single sport in NCAA DIII award history (UW-La Crosse in men's indoor track & field).

            Overall, there were 163 women's programs who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season. No program posted a better cumulative GPA than Nebraska Wesleyan at 3.9.

Here is the criteria to be named an All-Academic Team:

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
