Sage's Megan Flynn named to 2019-2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Albany, NY–Graduate player Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) of The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team added another honor to her growing resume with the release of the 2019-20 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team. The team, which is selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

Flynn leads Sage with 10 double-doubles this season and now boasts 17 career double-doubles, while also excelling in the classroom. A four-year letterwinner for Sage's basketball team, Flynn is also a candidate for the 2019-2020 Josten's Trophy as well as the inaugural Capital District Sports Woman of the Year. A two-time Empire 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week honoree this year, she has a 13.0 ppg average as well as a 10.8 rpg average, which both are team leading statistics. She is also shooting a blistering 50.2% from the floor and has 16 blocked shots as Sage's women's basketball team has secured a spot in the upcoming Empire 8 Women's Basketball Tournament.

Featured as an Empire 8 Leader for Tomorrow earlier this year, she is currently ranked nationally in seven different statistical categories including ranking 27th in rebounding and 57th in double-doubles.

Earlier this season, she exploded for a personal-best 25 rebounds in a game as Sage beat Westfield State. Her 25 rebounds set a Sage single-game record and tied the Empire 8 single-game rebounding record in the process. Additionally, she added a personal-best 24 points in the same game and later tied the personal-best with 24 points against Utica.

She is currently 15th in single-season scoring, while ranking third in single-season rebounding and sixth in single-season field goal percentage. Entering Saturday's contest, she has started 71 of 83 games played at Sage and has racked up 822 points with 651 rebounds, 42 blocked shots and has a 51.4% career field goal percentage. She is tied for 13th in career scoring, while ranking fifth in rebounding, ninth in career blocks, 10th in career free throws made, while also standing in the Top 15 in career free throw percentage.

Flynn graduated from Sage with her undergraduate degree business administration and is currently in Sage's MBA program as a graduate student. As a rookie, she earned a spot on the 2016-2017 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team and Dean's List acclaim. She has been honored several times as a Sage Scholar-Athlete, while also garnering an induction into the Sage Athletic Honor Society last spring. She has also been recognized by the Empire 8 with five selections to the Empire 8 Presidents' List. She also was the recipient of the Student Sage Book Award.

Sage will host Utica College on February 22 at 4 p.m. in Empire 8 action to wrap the regular-season. Sage will honor their 2020 seniors on Saturday in conjunction with Senior Day.
