Larose added to Sage Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

Albany, NY — The Sage Colleges' Department of Athletics has announced the selection of Frane Larose as the newest member of the women's basketball coaching staff. Larose will serve as the graduate assistant coach for Allison Coleman and the Gator women's basketball team.

Allison Coleman said of his selection, "We are very excited to welcome Frane to the Sage Women's Basketball program." She continued, "Frane will spend much of his time with player development with our guards as well as offer his assistance with recruiting and scouting efforts.  His familiarity with Sage, myself and our current student-athletes coupled with his work ethic and desire to win will strengthen our coaching staff and help the program reach its goals."

Larose is no stranger to the basketball program at Sage, but will join the women's basketball coaching staff this year after performing on the hardwood here at Sage as a member of the men's basketball team. A graduate of The Sage College of Albany, Larose is presently working on his Master of Science degree in business at The Sage Colleges' Graduate School. He came to Albany after attending North Country Community College, earning his associates degree in business with a concentration in sports management in 2016.

While at N.C.C.C, Larose served as the basketball team captain and earned team MVP status in 2015 as well as Mountain Valley Conference Third Team honors. In his second year there, he was saluted as the 2016 Athlete of the Year after also earning acclaim as a NJCAA Region 3 All-Tournament Team pick. He was also selected to the 2016 NJCAA Region 3 Third Team and was chosen to the 2016 Mountain Valley Conference Second Team. A graduate of North Miami Beach Senior High School, Larose excelled in the classroom and as a member of the track and field and the basketball teams scholastically.

As a member of the men's basketball team at Sage, Larose served the team as a captain during the 2018-2019 season. He was a 25-game starter in 2018-2019, having averaged 25.8 minutes a game with 114 assists to go with his 43 steals and a 1.6 assist to turnover ratio and 3.7 rebounds per game. He was selected to the 2018-2019 Empire 8 Men's Basketball Sportsmanship Team to cap his time at Sage.

Larose missed the 2017-2018 campaign with an injury. He returned for his final season and had a personal-best 7.5 ppg average on the year with 167 career assists. He wrapped his time on the Sage hardwood ranked fourth all-time on the career games played list with 48 appearances in a Sage uniform. He started 45 of 48 games played on the court for Sage with 323 points at Sage. In his final campaign at Sage, he handed out 10 assists against SUNY-Delhi, which is tied for fourth in single-game performances in the Gator record book.

A 20-game starter for Sage in 2016-17, Larose was a former two-sport student-athlete at Sage having also excelled as a member of the men's track and field team in 2017. He was honored with a selection to the 2016-2107 NABC Honors Court for his academic successes. On the court, he played in 23 games in his first campaign at Sage with a 5.9 ppg average, while adding 53 assists, 29 steals and a 2.5 rpg average on the 2016-2017 season.

As a newcomer in track, he was selected as the Gator of the Year for 2017 as the team's Most Valuable Performer.

Frane graduated from Sage in 2018 with a degree in business administration with a concentration on sports management. He is currently a graduate student at Sage and working towards the completion of a masters' degree.         He was selected to the 2016-2017 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team and is a Dean's List student at Sage. During his time as a student-athlete at Sage, he was also involved with Sage's S.A.A.C. and was a resident assistant in 2017-2018.

He has extensive coaching experience having worked at the Sage Gator Boys' Basketball Spring Break and Summer Camps and while a student at Sage also completed an internship with In Focus Brands. He has also spent time as a Summer Camp Counselor and basketball coach for the City of North Miami Beach.
