Meet Coach McDonald

Sage selected Gillian McDonald as its first head coach of the Gators' new field hockey program in the spring of 2017. The Gators started their first varsity season in August of 2018. McDonald spent 11 years as the Hamilton Head Field Coach, leading the team to a 12-5 record and being named the NESCAC Coach of the Year in 2016. In their fourth NESCAC Championship appearance in their six years in the conference, the Continentals were the third seed for the NESCAC Championship, which was a program high. They achieved the school's highest national ranking, rising to eleventh in the NFHCA poll. Coach McDonald has also been named the Liberty League Coach of the Year, and has coached five All-Americans. McDonald was a First team All-American selection and a two time First team Regional All-American at Bowdoin College.
