Sage's Kevin Cain honored as Assistant Pro of the Year

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' head men's golf coach Kevin Cain (Clifton Park, NY) was honored as the 2017 Northeastern New York Section of the PGA Assistant Pro of the Year. Cain, who joined the Sage department in the summer of 2017 as the head men's golf coach is now a repeat winner of the award, having earned the same award in 2015.

A 2002 graduate of Wingate University, Cain was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs, he arrives at Sage this summer and is the current assistant golf professional at Colonie Golf and Country Club. He has held that position since 2011 and has worked previously at Richter Park Golf Club (Danbury, CT), Hiland Golf Club (Queensbury, NY), and Eagle Crest Golf Club (Clifton Park, NY).

Tapped as the 2015 NENYPGA Assistant Golf Professional of the Year, Cain has helped the Sage golf team this past fall with his wealth of experience as both a player and a coach. In addition to his role at Colonie Golf and Country Club, he also currently the president of the NENYPGA Assistant Association. During his career he has accomplished a number of NENY sectional tournament victories and qualified for the 2012 Professional National Championship in 2012 in Monterey, CA. A Top 10 player of the Year honoree in 2011, he was also listed among the Assistant Player of the Year honorees, while also boasting a Vardon Stroke average. In 2014 he finished in fourth place, garnering Player of the Year honors, while also garnering the Vardon Stroke Average.

The Gators will be back in action this spring when they compete on April 14-15 at the 2018 Empire 8 Conference Championship at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, PA.
