Sage selects Jamie Trudeau as new Softball Coach

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges Department of Athletics announced the selection of Jamie Trudeau (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) as the newest member of the athletic department as she will serve as the head softball coach for the Gators.  She joins the staff after serving as the head softball coach at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for the past three seasons. She replaces Jamie Brown who accepted the position as head softball coach at Buffalo State, her alma mater earlier this fall.

"First off, I would like to thank Sandy Augstein-Collins and the entire search committee for giving me the opportunity to become the next Head Softball Coach for The Sage Colleges." Trudeau continued, "It is both an honor and a privilege to work with The Sage Colleges community who is committed to its students' academic and athletic success.  I look forward to working with the softball team and lead them into the Empire 8 Conference."

Sage Director of Athletics and Recreation Sandy Augstein-Collins said "Sage is thrilled to welcome Jamie Trudeau as our new softball coach." Augstein-Collins continued, "Coach Trudeau brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to Sage.  We are looking forward to the continued growth of the program as the team begins competing in the Empire 8 in the Spring of 2018."

Trudeau was named head softball coach in January of 2015 at MCLA and promptly led the Trailblazers to their first NCAA tournament appearance and conference championship since 1995.  In her first season at MCLA, the Trailblazers improved dramatically on the offensive end more than tripling their extra base hits from the previous season.  MCLA finished second in the MASCAC regular-season prior to winning the tournament championship and in turn advancing to the regionals.  She helped to produce a pair of MASCAC All-League Second Team performers in 2017.

Trudeau has 12 years of experience in the collegiate level and was a volunteer assistant coach at Division I Siena College in Loudonville, NY from 2013-2015, primarily working as the hitting instructor and infield coach.  She also worked as an instructor for the All Stars Baseball/Softball Academy in Latham, NY. She also served as the head women's soccer and softball coach at nearby Hudson Valley Community College in 2003-2004 and led the softball team to the 2004 Mountain Valley Conference Championship and a regional finalist showing.

Trudeau was at the helm at Wells College in Aurora, NY, for three seasons.  While at Wells, she led the program to its highest win total in school history. The student-athletes in her program also were recognized for their academic success.

Trudeau has coached teams to five different conference championships including three regional final appearances and one 4th place finish in the NCAA Division III World Series. In 2006 and 2007 Trudeau was selected to the NFCA Northeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. With Trudeau's two seasons assisting at Plattsburg State University they we able to accomplish the programs best record along with breaking 19 of the program's records.

Trudeau received her bachelor's degree in physical education from Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC, in 2003 before earning a master's degree in arts, health, physical education and recreation, with an emphasis on athletic administration from the University of South Dakota in 2006.
