Sage's Gen Schoff Tapped as Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

New York, NY— With the release of the 2016 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the Winter and Spring of 2016, The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team was represented with the selection of  sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the sport. Schoff, who was also honored as the Sage Gator of the Year in women's basketball helped lead the team throughout the 2015-2016 season as they finished as the Skyline Conference regular-season champions and the Skyline Conference Tournament runners-up after a record setting campaign that saw the Gators go 21-6.

An accomplished student in the classroom, Schoff, who was a candidate last season for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team has an impressive resume that included a combined 3.5275 grade-point-average for the 2015-2016 academic year. A pre-physician assistant major at Sage, she was also named to the Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team as a freshman and again this year, while also earning acclaim as both a Dean's List Student at Sage and a member of Sage's Scholar-Athlete Team.

She finished the year with a school-record 132 free throws on the season and was ranked No. 8 in free throws made, No. 12 in free throws attempted (196), while also ranking No. 52 in offensive rebounds with 4.0 per game. All told, she was ranked 10 different NCAA Division III categories on the 2015-2016 season. Schoff tallied a team-leading 419 points, which is the third highest point total for a Gator. She also penned her name into the single-season record book with 149 made free throws on 196 attempts. Schoff, a First Team All-Skyline pick boasts 636 points in just two season at Sage.

Head women's basketball coach Allison Coleman said of Schoff, "Gen is a true leader on and off the floor." Coleman noted, "She is a leader by example, who always pushes herself and her teammates to become better players and people.  Gen's contributions on the floor this past season were a key ingredient in our team's success.  As only a sophomore, Gen has cemented her place as one of the greatest women's basketball players in the history of the program."
