Patterson and Pearson sweep Skyline Rookie Honors in Basketball

 

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges’ women’s and men’s basketball teams were well represented with the release of the weekly Skyline Conference awards as newcomer Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) was named the Skyline Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, while rookie forward Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) was named Skyline Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

Marcus Patterson - Sage

Freshman, Forward, Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy

Patterson averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists as Sage notched wins over St. Joseph's-L.I. (69-59) and NYU-Poly (78-69)…shot 8-of-15 from the field and added a pair of steals…scored 10 points on Feb. 8 versus St. Joseph's-L.I…had 12 points and six rebounds in 19 minutes of action on Feb. 4 against NYU-Poly.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

Frankie Pearson - Sage

Freshman, Guard, Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central HS

Pearson averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as Sage earned wins over Old Westbury (86-60) and Mount Saint Mary (79-61)…scored 11 points on Feb. 8 versus OW…compiled eight points and seven boards against Mount Saint Mary on Feb. 4…named the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the third time.

Both Sage’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in action on Wednesday, February 12. Sage’s women’s team will travel to Purchase College for a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference game. Sage’s women’s team is 13-7 overall with an 8-2 record in the Skyline Conference. Sage’s women’s team will set a new standard for wins in a season when they achieve their 14th win.

Like Sage’s women’s team, Sage’s men’s team also has 13 wins this season. They will host Maritime College in a Skyline Conference game at Kahl Gym tonight at 7 p.m. and also look to set a new standard for wins in a season as well when they take to the hardwood.
