Drollette and Ackerman honored by Skyline Conference


New York, NY – The Sage Colleges’ women’s volleyball team and women’s tennis team each had one player honored with the release on the Skyline Conference players of the Week on Monday.  Junior defensive specialist Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) was named Skyline Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week, while junior women’s tennis player, Kirsten Ackerman (Rensselear, NY/Guilderland) was named the Skyline Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second straight week.

Drollette averaged 5.87 digs over 15 sets in a 2-3 week for the Gators. She amassed 28 digs on September 13 in a 3-0 win over Bridgewater State (MA) and added 20 digs in 3-0 setback against Trinity (CT) on September 13. She also compiled 19 digs the next day in a 3-0 loss to Western Connecticut State.  Overall this fall, Drollette leads the team with her 205 digs, elevating her career resume to include 809 digs. She has five aces as well in 2013.

Sage women’s volleyball team returns to action on September 19 travelling to SUNY-Cobleskill for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.

Ackerman was named the Skyline Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks. She is coming off a week that saw her go 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles. She is now 5-0 in singles action this year, while also boasting a 5-0 record in doubles competition this fall. Ackerman is now 18-0 lifetime at Sage in dual match singles play and 19-1 overall in singles as a Gator.

Sage’s women’s tennis team will be back in action on September 21 hosting defending Skyline Conference Champions, Mt. St. Mary College in a 1 p.m. match at Prospect Park (Troy, NY).
