Christine Kemp joins Sage staff as assistant athletic trainer

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges’ department of athletics has announced the selection of Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, NY) to the position of assistant athletic trainer. A 2011 graduate of Skidmore College, Kemp is no stranger to the Capital District having excelled both athletically and academically during her collegiate career for the Thoroughbreds.

She joins the athletic department at Sage after serving the past two years as a student assistant athletic trainer at Bridgewater State University (MA), where she earned her master of science degree in athletic training in May of 2013. A cum laude graduate at Skidmore College, Kemp earned her bachelor of science degree in health and exercise science, while also earning Liberty League All-Academic honors in both field hockey and basketball, while also earning a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. A three-time All-American at Skidmore in field hockey, she was also cited three times during her career as the Liberty League Field Hockey Player of the Year. She excelled on the hardwood as well serving as the basketball team captain for the 2010-2011 season and earned team defensive player of the year honors as a senior.

A graduate of Putnam Valley High School, Kemp has extensive athletic training and clinical experience in collegiate and high school settings. While pursuing her master’s degree at Bridgewater State, she assisted with the coverage of football, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, field hockey, men’s and women’s basketball programs and spent five months with similar duties at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. Most recently in the spring of 2013, she was assisgned to at Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, where she provided athletic training coverage for 15 of their varsity programs as part of her clinical assignments.

Kemp also brings to Sage extensive experience in physical therapy and is pursuing her certification in strength training and conditioning.
