Sage adds LeVar Holmes to Softball Staff


Troy, NY---The Sage Colleges Athletic Department announced the selection of LeVar Holmes (Troy, NY) as the newest member of the department. LeVar Holmes joins Sage’s softball staff this season as an assistant coach. A veteran youth softball and basketball coach in the Capital District for the past 10 years, Holmes has many connections to the Sage program having already worked with Sage assistant coach, Mike Jones.

Head coach Jamie Brown said of the selection of Holmes, “I am very excited to have LeVar join our staff.” Brown continued, “He brings knowledge and expertise of the sport, and has a great deal of enthusiasm for being to able to coach college.  He will mesh really well with our staff and the players."

He has been active in the area softball circles having served as an assistant coach with Sage assistant coach, Mike Jones as a member of the coaching staff of the New York Blast Girls’ Fastpitch travelling team, which captured the 2008 New York State ASA under 18 championship. In 2004, he was chosen as the head junior varsity softball coach for the Catholic Central High School team and has assisted the squad, which has since won two Big 10 Championship titles. He has also worked the past few seasons as the assistant varsity softball coach at Catholic Central. Holmes has also coaches basketball locally with both the Catholic Central programs for eight years as well as the St. Augustine CYO team from 1999-2004.

A graduate of nearby Lansingburgh High School, Holmes holds certification from the America Red Cross in CPR for Adults and First Aid and AED.
