Danielle Mignemi joins Sage staff as Assistant Athletic Trainer

Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges has selected Danielle Mignemi (Erie, PA) to serve as the athletic department’s new assistant athletic trainer. Athletic Director Dani Drews said of her selection, “Danielle is going to be a great addition to our department.  She is bright, talented, and experienced and we cannot wait for her to join us.”

Mignemi will start in her new role at Sage on February 21, joining head athletic trainer, Sharon Brodie on Sage’s athletic training staff, responsible for the medical care for the College’s 12 varsity programs.

Mignemi comes to Sage after serving as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Gannon University since 2006. Originally hired at Gannon in April of 2006, she was part of an athletic training staff responsible for the coverage of 18 varsity sports. Her primary team coverage included men’s soccer in the fall, men’s basketball in the winter and women’s lacrosse in the spring.  She also served as an adjunct instructor in Gannon’s Sport and Exercise Science Department.

Prior to her work at Gannon University and the Hamot Medical Center, Mignemi spent a little over two years at NCAA Division II Chowan (N.C.) University. Mignemi originally accepted the Chowan assistant athletic trainer position in January of 2002, before being elevated to the head athletic trainer later that year in June.

Mignemi graduated with a Bachelor of Science in sports medicine with a concentration in athletic training from Mercyhurst College in 1999. The Rochester, N.Y., native began her athletic training career at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in July of 1999 where she earned a Master of Science in athletic training in 2000.
